Advocacy Action Alliance

Collaborative Advocacy to Elevate Rural Voices

About the Advocacy Action Alliance

The Texas Rural Health Advocacy Action Alliance is a statewide member network designed to unify rural voices, strengthen advocacy capacity, and drive policy solutions that improve health access and outcomes across Texas.

The Alliance bridges the gap between clinical reality and legislative action. By connecting healthcare providers, organizations, community leaders, partners, and  policymakers, we ensure that rural communities are not just heard, but are amplified and influential where decisions are made at both the state and national level.

The 2026/2027 Strategic Framework

Advocacy is most effective when it is coordinated. To ensure we move forward with precision, the Alliance is organized around the key sectors that form the backbone of rural life. This framework allows us to understand exactly who is at the table and where we need to strengthen our engagement

Our Core Rural Health Sectors

Rural Hospitals & Health Systems
Rural Clinics, Primary Care & Pharmacy
Clinical Workforce & Education Pipeline
Behavioral Health & Public Health
Emergency Services
Maternal, Child & Aging Health
Community Systems & Economic Development

The Advisory Council: Be a Sector Connector

To stay responsive and coordinated, we are establishing the Advocacy Action Alliance Advisory Council. This is not a “heavy-lift” board role; it is a strategic role for “Connectors.”

We are seeking 1–2 representatives per sector to serve as the direct link between the Alliance and their professional networks.

What You Can Do:

  • Serves as a Link: Acts as the primary contact between TRHA and your specific network.
  • Provides Expert Input: Offers ground-level feedback when advocacy opportunities (like sign-on letters or federal updates) arise.
  • Amplifies Opportunities: Shares resources, legislative updates, and calls-to-action within your sector.
  • Strengthens the Ecosystem: Helps us ensure no part of the rural landscape is left out of the conversation.

How We Work

TRHA builds a unified rural health network through:

• Quarterly Advocacy Action Alliance meetings

• Cross-sector networking across healthcare, EMS, behavioral health, public health, education, workforce, and community partners

• Collaboration on events, campaigns, and rural initiatives

• A statewide communication hub featuring updates, member highlights, training opportunities, and aligned messaging

Members stay informed and prepared through:

• Clear, timely state and federal policy updates

• Advocacy alerts and calls to action

• Opportunities to help shape TRHA’s statewide advocacy priorities

• Advocacy tools and guidance, including talking points, rural data, and template materials

TRHA helps elevate the lived experiences of rural Texas by:

• Supporting members in gathering and sharing community impact stories

• Showcasing rural voices through TRHA communication channels

• Using stories to inform and strengthen statewide and federal advocacy

The Power of Rural Stories

Sharing Your Rural Story Can Drive Change!
The Texas Rural Health Stories initiative, in partnership with the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), highlights personal experiences from rural healthcare providers, patients, and community leaders. These stories help raise awareness and influence policy changes that reflect the realities of rural healthcare challenges.
